Castlepoint are to fine drivers who take spaces reserved for disabled shoppers. From Monday 14th May 2007 if you park in a disabled bay without being a blue badge holder you will receive a penalty notice charge of £100, if paid within 2 weeks it will reduce to £50.
Enforcement will be carred out by De Vere Parking, a private company, that will charge Castlepoint £40 for every ticket they issue. This will create a £10 surplus for every £50 penalty paid. Castlepoint intend to ringfence this money and spend it on facilities for disabled shoppers.
