At the Castlepoint Shopmobility unit we are desperate for volunteers to spare a few hours a week in helping push the elderly (in wheelchairs) from the Shopmobility unit up to the shops.
Four mornings a week the BAT Bus (Bournemouth Accessible Transport) arrives outside the Shopmobility unit bringing the elderly and those unable to use public transport into the centre. Many of these elderly people are now finding it increasingly difficult to walk up to the shops and we are trying to find volunteers who might be happy to help us with this project. We also have partially sited members from the BAT Bus who also need assistance with their shopping.
Volunteers make a vital contribution to all aspects of community life. Getting involved can give you the satisfaction of time and effort well spent, it can also be a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and gain useful experience. It can also be fun!
So, if you think you might be interested and are cheerful, patient and would like to help those within our community who are sometimes most at need, please contact :
Alison Morrison, Deputy Community Transport Manager on telephone 01202 598295, or pop along to our unit for a chat. The Shopmobility unit can be found at the end of Aisle 11 on the lower ground car park. Enter the car park at the B&Q entrance and follow the signs to Shopmobility.
